Welcome to Newcastle! Medicine has been taught in Newcastle since 1834 and is unique in being the only English university to start life as a medical school. This long history ensures our students receive excellent all round experience that prepares them well for work as Foundation Doctors.

The 'Medical School' is located only 10 minutes walk from the lively city centre, and is joined to the Royal Victoria Infirmary which is one of 18 hospitals who deliver teaching to undergraduate medical students around the Northern Region. We consider ourselves to be truly a 'Regional Medical School'.

The School enjoys an excellent reputation for teaching, research and innovation in medical education with many of our teachers engaged in ground breaking activities. The curriculum is integrated and case-led putting patients at the forefront of your learning as soon as possible.
