About The College Of Richard Collyer

Richard Collyer wrote his will in January and died in March.

His links with Horsham are still a mystery but, as a London merchant and Mercer of great wealth, he left in his will that if his two children died underage or without heirs then one of his two city dwellings should be sold and the proceeds used to build a school-house for 60 Horsham boys and that his great mansion should be given to the Mercers’ as trusteesto endow the foundation for salaries and repairs.

The Charter sets out the expectations that Collyer’s aims to meet. In March 2008, the college was judged as “Outstanding” in it’s Ofsted Inspection. Following on from this, LSIS have awarded the college “Beacon Status”, which provides public recognition of the excellence and innovation which exists within the Further Education system.

It is awarded to providers that deliver outstanding teaching and learning. In addition, the college has held the Investors in People standard for over 10 years.
