In 1937 he began work in Medellin "Industrial College Coloveno" in order to meet the educational needs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The educational work covered all levels of education and sought to professionally prepare pastors, administrators, teachers and musicians.

At the start of 1950 the name "Colombo-Venezuelan Institute" was adopted and continued to work in primary, secondary and tertiary education. Decree 80 of 1980 (January 22) issued by the President of the Republic defines the higher education system and such a definition forced the "Colombo-Venezuelan Institute" to revise their statutes.

The July 18, 1981 created the Adventist University Corporation with the goal of providing post-secondary education in the university sector. The UNAC received legal personality No.

8529 on June 6, 1983, issued by the Ministry of Education.In the academic development process it has organized five faculties from which undergraduate programs are offered: Faculty of Education, Faculty of Theology, Faculty of Health, Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences, Faculty of Engineering; and a Division of Research and Postgraduate which is responsible for leading graduate programs offered by the institution.
